  • How do bookings work?

    • Type of Work Accepted: Most of the work I do is custom work, although occasionally pre drawn work will be made available. View more info on type of work accepted here.

      • Custom work is a tattoo design that I personally create for you. It is one of a kind and not repeated without permission.

      • Pre-Drawn work is artwork that I have drawn in advance, which you can then select to be tattooed. This is also known as ‘flash’ in the tattoo world. More info on pre-drawn work here.

      • Pre-drawn work is NOT artwork that has been drawn by someone other than me; I do not accept work drawn by other people with few exceptions made.

    • Booking Submissions: When books are open, submissions must be made via the booking form that will appear as an option in the website header above when active.. Submissions will not be accepted when books are closed.

      • Submission form: The booking/submission form acts as both your booking request AND as your initial consultation, so please take the time to fill it out thoughtfully and thoroughly. Some booking form tips:

        • Avoid overly vague descriptions. For example, “A bird and three flowers” is too non specific. A good description would be “a chickadee and three dogwood blossoms.”

        • More isn’t always better. Too many design elements lead to a cluttered and unfocused look.

          • I recommend:

            • 1-2 primary subjects/elements (for example, a raven, snake, owl, etc)

            • 1 - 5 secondary elements (if desired.)

              • Secondary elements can be

                • specific aka ‘wild roses’, ‘full moon’, ‘willow branch’;

                • general, aka ‘Oregon wildflowers’, ‘Arizona desert plants’

            • An additional list of optional ‘filler’ elements for me to choose from if the design feels like it needs more is always welcome but not required.

            • Exception: For floral arrangement work, you do not need to choose primary and secondary elements unless there is a particular flower you’d like to be the main focus. Otherwise, just list the flowers you’d like to see in the arrangement.

            • For small tattoos, a much simpler approach is recommended.

        • I like work to be both meaningful and specific. Please include specific species of animals and plants if known, or specific regions you’d like to represent (such as the flora of South Africa, or the ferns of the PWN.)

    • What happens if my booking is accepted?

      • If accepted, you will be contacted via email to complete your booking. At this point:

        • You will be asked to provide reference images for your design (for style, content or placement). You can gather images of tattoos you like (by me or not, either way is fine), pictures of other artwork, photos, etc; whatever is relevant and inspired you, please share. However, I do ask that you be focused with your references and only provide what is specific to this design.

        • It is helpful to send a photo of the specific (non graphic, please!) area of your body you’d like to have tattooed. This is not required except in the case of cover ups or tattoos that will be going closely between other tattoos but it is still helpful if possible to create a design that will best fit your unique body.

        • You will be sent a link to my booking calendar, from which you will be able to choose your own appointment dates and times.

    • What happens if my booking is not accepted?

      • First, thank you so much for taking the time to get in contact with me. Please feel free to try again when my books are open!

      • If not accepted, it is likely either because my schedule was full or because your proposal didn’t align with the type of work I usually do. Please review my gallery or Instagram to see if what you want done is similar to the work that I post. I only select proposals that fit my artistic interests and my skill set. I focus on nature based imagery with an emphasis on fluid linework. Think flowers, trees, insects, wildlife, landscapes, rocks and minerals, animal skulls, astronomical objects, etc., sometimes with a geometric background, sometimes not. I rarely accept proposals where the main focus is a person or man made object (maybe a handmade wooden instrument or something would be accepted.) I also do not accept pre drawn work by other artists with few exceptions, and do not accept tattoo proposals outside of my normal style (so no tribal, american traditional, borderless/watercolor, font, etc.)

Important: Significant changes are not allowed to custom requests once booked.

Consults:

Consultations are typically done electronically, and are only for those who were selected during my booking round and have an already scheduled appointments. I have found this approach to work very well, and is convenient for both of us in order to gather all of our thoughts and reference images in a single email thread. Rarely, an in person consultation may be offered if required for a large or complicated piece. If you were not selected during my booking round and do not have an appointment scheduled, I am not able to offer a consultation at this time.
